{"id":345,"date":"2016-06-21T21:29:55","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T21:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.azizisa.org\/en\/?p=345"},"modified":"2017-03-23T17:35:08","modified_gmt":"2017-03-23T17:35:08","slug":"on-summer-solstice-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azizisa.org\/en\/on-summer-solstice-day\/","title":{"rendered":"On the day of the summer solstice\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333300;\">Aziz Isa Elkun<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In these years that pass by full of memories,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I lived on your streets with constant effort.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">My hope shines like an ever bright star,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I will celebrate you today with flowers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">I love this life, this world so beautiful,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I live in the desert and dream of the oasis.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I wish to soar like an eagle,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I wish the blue sky for my homeland!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">A refugee has many untold stories,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">White feathered seagulls witness his adventures on the sea.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">His countless homesick summers and winters,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Weeping rain drops his constant companion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The young man who left his home grew up,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">He never took comfort from tears.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Though separation pierced his life,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">He trusted that joyful days would arrive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">His loved ones left on the horizon,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Forced to live in solitary exile,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">He kept seeing the Tarim* in his dreams,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Seeing Oghuz* who was abandoned among the wolves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Life goes by without caring,\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">It has no intention of going back.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">So I didn\u2019t stay idle under the thieving years,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I strove hard to present them with flowers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">My children are almost as tall as me now,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">I feel the worries of life have just begun.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Should I admit that I am grown up,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Remembering my own father\u2019s smiling face?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Elkun* will never be tamed by life\u2019s destiny,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">He will be reborn once every year.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">He will live on with his faith given by God,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Every year until the summer solstice day arrives!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">22 June 2016, London<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0__________________________<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Notes<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">* Tarim &#8211; is a name of the river. The Tarim River the world\u2019s longest land-locked river with a length of 2,030\u00a0km, which flows down from the Himalayas into the Uyghur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) of China. \u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">* Oguz &#8211; is a legendary hero of the Uyghur and other Turkic peoples who lived in the 2nd century BCE.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">* Elkun &#8211; the poet\u2019s pen name.
